According to a new study, the typical family only spends just 6 hours a week together. 42% of parents admitted they struggle to initiate chats with their children. You can read about it here.
Parents cited time spent on the phone and time doing homework as two of the main culprits. Does this really surprise anyone considering children spend 8 hours a day in school for 5 days a week? Then there are after school activities and homework. In what world wouldn‘t the school become the primary influence on your child?
I can’t help but think about all the homeschool parents who report they finish their child’s schooling in two hours a day. It’s not that they’re only schooling for two hours a day, but that’s all it takes to get through the formal stuff, the book work. So they can spend the rest of their time studying nature, doin bird watches, going to museums, spending the day fishing as a family, so that it’s not hard to initiate chats with your kids. Shouldn’t that be the bare minimum?
