Many homeschool families consider adding a foreign language study to their child’s assignments, but here is one they might have overlooked: sign language. Sign language is an enjoyable thing to learn for many students, and something that can come in handy.
The National Association of the Deaf outlines some great resources for learning ASL. It is very important to understand the history of ASL and the culture of the deaf community. It is worth noting that different countries have their own version of sign language, so what may mean one thing in America may mean something entirely different in a foreign country.
