Looking for ways to get your child more active? Have you heard “I’m bored” for the last time? Here are some solutions for getting your child up and moving!
Traditional toys are still the best. Every child needs balls, bicycles, chalk, jump ropes and hula hoops. These toys inspire imagination and movement outside. Games like hopscotch are always fun. Getting out into nature provides learning opportunities but it’s also a great way to get some exercise in without even knowing it. Take nature walks, go hiking, and swimming.
What do you do on days when it rains or it’s too cold or hot to be outside? You can still be active! These four exciting video series feature guided physical activity in creative ways:
- Adventure 2 Fitness
- The Good and The Beautiful’s Exercise Adventures for Kids
- Jack Hartmann’s Kids Music Channel
- Go Noodle| Get Moving
Extracurriculars provide a great oppurtunity for your children to not only make friends, but also gain strength though guided physical activity. Sports, martial arts, dancing and more will help your children discover and pursue their interests.
Of course the best way to teach physical fitness is to model it yourself. Model clean eating and healthy habits so it will be second nature for your children when they are adults!
