It’s that time of year! The evenings are cooler, the days are shorter, and back to school ads are everywhere. We hope you’ll find these tips helpful whether you’re brand new to the homeschooling world, or a veteran with several years under your belt.
- Don’t try to replicate school at home. There’s a reason you pulled your child from the system, don’t stress yourself and your child by trying to replicate that system in your homeschool. You don’t need the 8:00am-3:00pm with 45minute block schedule that children hate. You have flexibility, embrace it!
- Don’t push too hard. Reading non-stop may not be the solution for a struggling reader. Less can be more. Take a step back and let the child read about things they enjoy, and watch them thrive.
- Follow the interests of your child. Whether that be coding, cooking, construction, whatever it might be, follow their interests and they will be much more prepared for their future.
